In Roman times, the term “Terra Raetica” (Raetian Land) referred to the cultural community of several peoples in the Alpine region.
Today, Terra Raetica is taking on new significance: the regions in the border triangle of Austria, Switzerland, and Italy are growing closer together once again. On December 19, 2007, the governors of Tyrol and South Tyrol and the cantonal government of Graubünden formally decided to establish the Interreg Council Terra Raetica in a ceremonial act.
The objective is to strengthen cross-border cooperation through a single, joint management structure provided by the Interreg Council and to ensure closer integration of Interreg projects among the participating regions and cantons.
