R5: Weißkugel Trail

In the shadow of the Weißkugel, we head to the Weißkugel hut and return to Melag via a small section of the Langtauferer Höhenweg trail.

The first part is rather flat and perfect for a run-in. From Melager Alm, the trail gradually becomes steeper and you walk along the glacier nature trail towards the Weißkugelhütte – always with the best view of the glaciers of the Weißkugel group. Once you have reached the Weißkugelhütte, follow the narrow high trail (some surefootedness required) out of the valley, but there are now no more metres in altitude to conquer. You soon reach the stream coming from the Weißseejoch and follow the path at first, then a forest path back to the small mountain village of Melag. POI=Point of Interest
